I know it has been a really long time, but we just welcomed a new little one to our family. The pregnancy was kind of rough and I didn't have much time to write. I promise I'll be back soon with my tips and tricks! As always thanks for reading and I'm terribly sorry for the long wait on posts.
It's happened to the best of us at some point. You plan a Disney trip and when it's time to head out... whoops your five months pregnant. My best advice is to be comfy. -T-Shirts are your best friend -Stretch Shorts are your second best friend -A good pair of tennis shoes are a back saver -A cute baseball hat is a cute accessory and it will help keep you cool. All kids get restless waiting in lines. I'm pretty sure one thing most kids lack is patience. Here are some tips to keep your kids busy while waiting in line. If you have a smartphone download games... Angry Birds, Where's My Water...etc. The kids will enjoy playing and it will certainly keep them busy. Hand-held games, like maybe an Etch-A-Sketch and small things like that, that will fit in your bag. Paper and pencils, this is my last resort but in the end young kids like mine are fairly content just playing tic-tac-toe. It will keep them busy for a little, but not near as long as the other ones. Snacks! If you are anticipating a long wait for a ride like Peter Pan. Then pick up your snacks and eat them while you wait. Just be sure it's more of an outdoor ride because I'm pretty sure they won't allow you to bring food into waits like Philharmagic. In the end, if you go to Disney World in the slower time of the year. You shouldn't have this problem to deal with as much especially if you use your fast passes wisely. Happy New Year! PS: if you want to know the slow times of the Disney year- check back in a few days to see my post about when to visit for the most pleasurable experience! Hi! So Santa brought Disney Infinity for the kids and when I played it with my oldest, Jack. I got dizzy! I thought for a minute maybe it's the pregnancy and then I asked my husband to play it with him for awhile and he got dizzy too. It's for the Wii. It's a really great game. It's fun especially for us Disnry nuts, but does it make anyone else dizzy? I was really upset that it made me dizzy because it was kind of a gift for all of us. Santa brought everyone a different game piece for it. Anyone else have issues with video games? So, I'll be posting soon about how to keep the kids busy in line at Disney. We just got home from our final trip of 2014. it'll be Winter soon so I'll be posting more about everything I've gathered on our trips this year. Sorry for not posting a lot this summer. Things got really busy with the kids! Please comment and say hello! As I come to know more people, they ask about where I take vacations and when I tell them how many times I've been to Disney, they automaticaly ask for tips. If you read anything on my blog, this should be it. Disney is like an ausement park on steroids. You need to treat Disney like an amusement park. Look at maps, figure out what rides you want to go on, what shows you want to see, and how to navigate the park. There's where the problems begin. You must know how to navigate the park. You can go to any amusement park and figure out where you are going, but Disney is huge. You do not want to walk from end to end of the park all day. Tips: ~Figure out which parks you want to go to and then buy the ticket plan that works out for you. -Rule of thumb: *Kids ages 0-9 ^Magic Kingdom ^Animal Kingdom ^Hollywood Studios ^Typhoon Lagoon *Tweens (10-12) ^Magic Kingdom ^Hollywood Studios ^Epcot ^Typhoon Lagoon OR Blizzard Beach ^Downtown Disney (no tickets needed) *Teens ^Magic Kingdom ^Hollywood Studios ^Epcot ^Typhoon Lagoon OR Blizzard Beach ^Downtown Disney ^Disney's Boardwalk (No tickets needed) *Adults ^If you don't have kids or parents with you, see as much as you can. You have no wheelchairs or strollers to deal with. This trip is about you. Try a little of everything. Please comment and visit often for updates!!! Lots of stuff to come! It has been awhile since I posted, but we've been super busy with summer and everything. We're headed back to the sunshine state in August. I can't wait, but here are some food tips for you! Downtown Disney: It is so expensive here. With young kids, you can't spend a long time here anyways. I would suggest eat at your resort or your Disney hotel. The food is not good for kids. As far as I know, there is only a few restaurants that you don't have to have reservations and otherwise don't waste your meal plan or money. I would suggest getting a treat here like a pretzel or we got Italian Ice. Do not get the chocolate kind. My son got it and my husband ended up with it instead and it is nasty! Disney's Boardwalk: There is a bakery, a pizza shop, and many other small booths around. Their hotdogs are to die for! Their pizza is pretty amazing too. The kids got hot dogs and fries; my husband and I hot pizza. Also their baked goods are fantastic, but super expensive and double portions so share... We bought two gigantic cupcakes and our family of six shared them and we were stuffed. Magic Kingdom: Unless, you are doing a character breakfast, save the hassle and cash and eat breakfast before you get to the park. It's tradition in our household to eat at Pinnochio's Village Haus. It however was closed when we were there. We tried something new though and tried Harbor House directly across from the Haunted mansion. It was fantastic. They have some fish but they also have chicken and other kid-friendly foods. Dinner on the other hand... I have little kids so we have stayed for the parade and the fireworks. If you are staying for the fireworks you may have to spring for fries or popcorn or some sort of snack. This year we didn't stay for the fireworks the kids were tired because it was really hot all day, so afterward we went to our resort outside of Disney and made microwave pizzas. You will definitely have to buy lots of drinks throughout the day. Hollywood Studios: Again, eat breakfast at home. Eat a larger breakfast everyday when going to Disney Parks. Do not eat any kind of breakfast that you will feel hunger soon after like Poptarts, doughnuts, or cookies. Try and eat you lunch later or early. I would recommend later but it really is personal preference if you would rather not eat a big breakfast and have an early lunch, go for it! Honestly, eat at 11:00am or eat at 1:30 you will miss the food lines and you will be riding while others are eating. We are lunch at Pizza Planet near Mupet Vision in that general area. Save money by splitting pizzas. There are 6 of us and we bought three and split the little pizzas. Same as Magic Kingdom, buy fruit bars and ice cream if it's hot. It will save you some melt downs. For dinner Fairfax Fare is where we ate. We got hot dogs which weren't bad, but which hot dog place doesn't have FRIES!!!!!!!! The hot dogs were good though for a snack before the last few rides and shopping spree. Typhoon Lagoon: At Typhoon Lagoon, we had a late lunch. We had 2 baskets of chicken tenders and fries and we split them. They were very yummy! This was at the main restaurant there. We also sprang for two of the refillable cups which were great! It kept us hydrated since it was very hot. Then we ate at TGIFriday's which was on our way home to our resort. Where do you like to eat in Disney? Comment and tell friends and family that are traveling to the Magical Place about my site! As requested, I will post more must-haves and packing suggestions. I have suggested before not to stay in Disney because it saves money. One of the upsides is that some resorts have a washer and dryer in your suite. You can pack much less clothes. For a seven day stay: Kids: 4 tshirts 4 shorts 1 jacket 1 pair of pants 1 dressy outfit (for a dinner show) 5 pairs of socks and underwear 1 pair of good tennis shoes 1 pair of boat or light sneakers 1 pair of flip-flops/ sandals 1 pair of wet shoes/swimshoes 1 beach towel 2 swimsuits (if weather is permitting otherwise 1) Please list if I left anything out for kids or any suggestions to add in comments! Adults 3-4 outfits for parks 1 jacket 1 pair of pants 4 pairs of socks and underwear 1 dressy outfit 1 pair of good tennis shoes 1 pair of boat shoes or light sneakers 1 pair flip-flops/sandals 1 beachtowel 1-2 swimsuits 1 pair swim/wet shoes As always hair ties and personal hygeine care items. With airplanes, be sure to find out what weights are allowed for shampoo and such. This packing list is specifically for those who are going to have access to a washer and dryer. I cannot stress how in the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon these shoes saved us. They were shredded by the end of the day. I also wanted to add SUNGLASSES! I always take a good pair for dinner shows and shopping, but for water parks and Disney Park, go to the Dollar Tree before your trip and buy two pairs of descent sunglasses for every member of your party. They will be $1 each and it will save you losing an expensive pair of sunglasses. As always, comment and let me know anything I may have forgotten. Below there is a picture of a pair of water shoes at Walmart for $8. My girls have these. They work great and the kids do not have to go barefoot.
